When I took on the job of editor-in-chief of Pit & Quarry more than cad ago, I was the next in a long line of editors trusted with the sion of bringing the best business information available to the ton's stone producers. Following in the footsteps of industry legends such as Walter Stauffer and Buren "Sandy" Herod was no small feat, but I rolled up my sleeves and jumped right in. Over the past 10 years, Pit & Quarry has grown from playing second fiddle in a two-book market to being the clear market leader in a four-book market. Those years have been highlighted by a return to the publication's traditional focus on equipment and technology and the launch of new publishing projects such as the Market Reference Guide, Portable Plants & Equipment magazine, and the reinvented Equipment & Technology Handbook. The past 10 years have also been landmark years, owing to the emergence of the Internet and Pit & Quarry's growth in the area of digital media information products.
