A Century of Service

A tribute to the associations that have provided 100 years of service and representation to the U.S. aggregates industry. On March 19, 1903, the U.S. aggregates industry marked a major milestone in its evolvement. On that day, The National Quarry Owners Association (NQOA) was organized to serve the owners of crushed stone operations. For the first time, quarry owners banded together to put into action the old adage, "all of us working together can accomplish more than any of us working individually." A few years later, in 1911, sand and gravel producers threw their fedoras in the ring. That year, the National Sand and Gravel Producers Association (NSGPA) was formed. In 1916, the year Pit & Quarry was founded, NSGPA changed its name to the National Sand & Gravel Association (NSGA).
