Life Cycle Assessment: An Important Element to the Pine Chemicals Industry

A few decades ago, few in the pine chemical industry probably would have recognized the term Life Cycle Assessment or Life Cycle Analysis (LCA's) or any of the other terms that have been used to describe the process including Life Cycle Inventory, Cradle to Grave Analysis, Ecobalance, and Material Flow Analysis. However, today it is important that we recognize these terms as critical elements to conducting business in a modern world that cares deeply about its environment. In fact, many would say that industry leaders should do more than understand these terms; they should embrace them to provide for a more sustainable pine chemical industry.
