Fireflies Share Their Light Tricks with LEDs

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are about to get a little bit brighter, thanks to the firefly. Scientists from Belgium, France, and Canada have uncovered a secret behind the firefly's twinkling light and applied this knowledge to LEDs. The result: LEDs that emit 54% more light than their unmodified counterparts.
