A theoretical model is proposed to describe energy distributions of electrons ionized from helium atoms in a circularly polarized laser light with short pulse and high intensity, especially, the high resolution energy distributions given by Mohideen group experimental measurements [V. Mohideen et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 71, 509 (1993)]. It is found that the serious peak intensity discrepancy between the experimental and previous theoretical distributions can be considerably eliminated. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physics.
