AIChE's member volunteers are the embodiment of the Institute's many endeavors. Yet, the culture of joining professional organizations has changed, with the younger generation of engineers appearing to be less inclined to join - or identify themselves with - organizations like AIChE. Developing a capable and inspired next generation of leaders is crucial to ensuring that AIChE has a productive and progressive future. This will require a great deal of mentoring and investment in today's young engineers - who must become both personally committed to the Institute and immersed in its culture and objectives.
