We obtain the low-temperature phases and phase transitions of monomer adsorption on a semi-infinite square lattice of width M, with first- and second-neighbor interactions. With first-neighbor interactions assumed to be repulsive, and allowing second-neighbor interactions to be attractive or repulsive, six sets of surface adsorption phases have been identified. Most of the numerical results conducted up to M=12 are found to fit exact closed-form expressions in M, thus allowing exact analytic extrapolations to the infinite two-dimensional case (M=infinity).
