Diabetes Microchip Is as Good as Gold

Researchers at the Stanford Univ. School of Medicine have invented a microchip that takes advantage of the fluorescence-enhancing properties of gold nanoparticles to speed up diabetes testing. If it receives approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the inexpensive chip could revolutionize early detection and therapy for newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetics.
