Shin-Etsu Builds Integrated PVC Plants and Boosts Global Capacity

Shintech,Inc.(Houston,TX),the U.S.subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co.(Tokyo,Japan;www.shinetsu.co.jp) is investing roughly us1 billion to construct its first integrated polyvinyl chloride manufacturing facility in the U.S.The plant,to be located on the U.S.Gulf Coast,will produce 1 billion 1b/yr of chlorine,1.1 billion 1b/yr of caustic soda and 1.65 billion 1b/yr of VCM.Construction will be performed in two phases,one in 2006 and the other in 2007.
