摘要

Ferrohydrodynamic pumping of a ferrofluid through a planar duct by means of a running magnetic wave is studied to second order in the amplitude of the exciting current density. The theory for electrohydrodynamic pumping of a polar liquid by means of a running electric wave is shown to be nearly identical. For the given fluid parameters, the net flow rate can be optimized by suitable choice of wavenumber and frequency of the running wave.
