The "genetic molecule" DNA has already proven itself as nanoconstruc-tion material; the specific base pairing of mutually complementary DNA regions puts this material into a position that promotes organization into defined structures.A team of researchers at the University of Dortmund headed by Christof M.Niemeyer has now used the specific base pairing of mutually complementary DNA regions to link nanoscopic gold particles together re-versibly so that they can be assembled into larger functional units.
