Enhanced thermoelectric properties of neodymium intercalated compounds NdxTiS2

The thermoelectric properties of Nd-intercalated compounds NdxTiS2 have been investigated at the temperatures from 5 to 310 K. The results indicate that Nd-intercalation into TiS2 leads to substantial decrease of both DC electrical resistivity (141%, 314% and 728% lower at 300 K for x = 0.025, 0.05 and 0.15, respectively) and lattice thermal conductivity (35%, 72% and 93% lower at 300 K for x = 0.025, 0.05 and 0.15, respectively) as compared to those of pristine TiS2- Specially, the figure of merit, ZT, of lightly intercalated compound Nd0.025TiS2 has been improved at all temperature investigated, and specifically it reaches 0.027 at 300 K, which is about 59% greater than that of TiS2.
