Strategic risk modelling in highway engineering/Modelowanie ryzyka strategicznego w in?ynierii drogowej

The strategic risk of a countrya€?s highway engineering is linked with how that country accomplishes its strategic objectives. They are to protect road users from death or injury, safeguard critical infrastructure and reinforce the rescue system. The paper gives an overview of road traffic risk models used for building tools for strategic decision-making in the area of road safety. They majority are macro models built from available demographic, economic and technical data. The overview of the models shows a variety of methods for forecasting risk with factor and multi-level models as particularly useful models. Based on this, a general concept was developed of models of strategic societal risk on a road network.
