摘要

The difficulties of students in learning Chemistry contents is subject of many discussions in theacademic environment. These difficulties already become apparent in elementary school whenstudents begin to study Chemistry. From these considerations, this study aimed to discuss someconceptions that elementary school students have about Chemistry and teaching of theirteachers. For this discussion, we analyzed the responses given by 32 students in the ninth gradeof 04 public schools in the Crateús city to a questionnaire containing 13 questions. The resultsshowed that inadequate training of the Science/Chemistry teacher is one of the factors thatcontribute most to an unsatisfactory teaching. As major actor in the learning and teachingprocess, the teacher should be able to create appropriate mechanisms to rid this process ofobstacles and to prevent failure of their work.
