The purpose of this qualitative case study sought to determine the impact of privately funded education over the last 15 years on systemic poverty for Verapaz, El Salvador. The funding for education, derived from the El Salvador Mission, is a scholarship program, which is specifically for the school-age children from Verapaz, El Salvador. For this case study, the qualitative research method was used as the research is based on non-numerical responses to research questions (Yin, 2014). The study entails the use of semi-structured interviews using questions to gather the perceptions about the impact of the Verapaz scholarship program as administered by the El Salvador Mission.;The findings of this study revealed one major theme. The scholarship program provides a path of opportunity for the beneficiaries that allows them to complete high school and college if they choose. The study shows that the majority were also able to obtain professional jobs upon graduation. The study concluded 98 percent of the students chosen to get the El Salvador Mission scholarship went on to graduate high school. This high school graduation rate stands in sharp contrast to the 16 percent graduation rate reported by the rest of the country. The blend of the substantial graduation rate, the 15-year longevity of the El Salvador Mission scholarship program demonstrates a quantifiable level success for the El Salvador Mission scholarship program.
