Embracing transience: Sustainable urban growth through transit.

摘要

This thesis is an investigation of how the infrastructure of a transportation hub and the introduction of a mass transit inner city light rail system in Gaborone, Botswana can have a dual benefit of enhancing mobility and creating social spaces that complement the day-to-day activities in the urban centre and subsequent transit nodes. My thesis seeks to introduce a new mass transit system that will help in the formalization of the existing transportation system in the city. Gaborone's existing intermodal transit hub exists only as a tolerable exchange point, but it has a great deal of potential for transit oriented development, with formalized social and economic spaces.
