Leather gets the overlay treatment for summer

Rich leathers in warm and natural colours contrasted with a story of transparency and openness at Lineapelle this spring, writes Penny Leese. The look of real leather shines through, even in the rich and bright colours. Colours are bright but less lurid and acidic. Although green is still strong, it has become a richer grass colour, while yellow is dandelion coloured, Leathers are soft in handle, with the look of the real grain showing through. Hand brushing, whitened surfaces and overlay treatments continue from this summer, but are softer and subtler. Transparent woven meshes or laser cut materials look summery. Weaves are also made from leather and string or just mixing natural materials and bright colours. Prints are strong and are also used on soles and sandal footbeds.
