FT publishes letter from World Leather

World Leather sent a letter to the Financial Times in response to some of the points that Puma's executive chairman, Jochen Zeitz, raised about leather's sustainability credentials in a recent interview with the newspaper. The FT published the letter on June 30. Mr Zeitz complained that leather was one of the biggest contributors to Puma's overall carbon emissions and he said the brand wanted to use less leather as a result. He said that analysis Puma has carried out shows that the biggest environmental impact in its value chain occurs among its tier-four suppliers, those who source raw materials from nature, including the cattle that are the source of its leather.
