Nature does not always provide the ideal ground conditions for the construction of roads: natural rock. In the majority of cases, soil is loose and has a poor bearing capacity. Consequently, the construction of every new road begins with the necessary earthwork. Once the course of the road has been defined and set out, the soil within the location must be treated accordingly, says German-based group Wirtgen in its publication, Road Building - A Passion.
