Mongolia's major road project

Mongolia is embarking on an ambitious road project which will link it with both China and the Russian Federation. Funded in part by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the US$200 million Western Regional Road Corridor Development Project will be nearly 750km long and be part of the Asian Highway Network. Road links are important for landlocked Mongolia's international trade although of its 49,250km of road currently only 396 is covered. The deal is also of note given the Russian Federation's difficult relations with Western nations at present.
