The viaduct of Rennes Metropolis metro line B is formed of prefabricated, prestressed ribbed segments placed in position with a launcher. It is 2,395 metres long, formed of separate two-span and single-span decks and rests on 70 X- or Y-shaped piers spaced 30 to 37 metres apart. The pier and segment curvatures had a major impact on the quality of formwork production, reinforcing-bar shaping and concreting methods. The piers are concreted over their full height. The 973 segments are prefabricated on the construction site in four standard units and two special units. They are cast by the match casting technique to ensure high geometrical precision.
