GRAND PARIS - LINE 15 SOUTH: OS 1302 P - DIAPHRAGM-WALL STARTING SHAFT FOR TUNNEL BORING MACHINES

Société du Grand Paris commissioned the Horizon consortium for execution of work section T2A on Line 15 South. One of the main structures of the work section is OS 1302P, which is located on the edge of the Seine on former industrial waste land known as the "friche Arrighi". OS 1302 is key to the work section T2A project, because it is the starting shaft for two tunnel boring machines: TBM 4 which drills the section up to Villejuif - Louis-Aragon, and TBM 2 which drills the section up to Créteil-L'Échat Station. The structure executed by the diaphragm wall technique is 1.50 metres thick and has a rather peculiar shape which required finite element modelling. It consists of two lobes of inner diameter 26 metres, linked by two straight walls 21 metres long. To limit drainage flow rates, the diaphragm walls are anchored in the Lutetian limestone at a depth of 56 metres.
