The St. Lawrence Seaway Pilots have to deal with some nasty weather, as they take ships in and out of St. Lawrence Seaway ports, between St. Regis, N.Y., and Lake Ontario's Port Weller. That's especially true in the late winter and early spring when river and lake ice start breaking up and ships begin moving up the Seaway.
