As bushfires raged through the Australian state of Victoria at the size of over 25,000 hectares, fears escalated that hundreds of sheep and acres of woolgrowing land could be lost. In the wake of the destruction, Kevin Dunn of Avondale Hills, the immediate past president of the Australian Superfine Woolgrowers Association (ASWGA), discusses the collective response to natural disaster. Growing the best superfine wool in the world has never been easy. Many outside influences occur without notice and woolgrowers are constantly adjusting to produce a high class product. This summer has added another couple of stumbling blocks, namely fire and flood.
