Linen is a star fibre enjoying across the board appeal for summer and increasingly winter too. European linen, in particular, is seen as the acme of this increasingly popular fibre. Northern France, Belgium and the Low Countries are the best places to find linen grown, processed and spun in the locality. The precise provenance of linen is identified in this season's marketing. In the case of Italian shirtings group Albini, the traceable fibre is Normandy linen, used this season in the kind of deep colours the fabirc is famous for - yellow, orange, red, turquoise and strawberry yarn-dyed qualities.
