摘要

R&B singer Alicia Keys sits in a makeshift dressing room at a photo studio in downtown Manhattan. A classic Prince album blares in the background; Basquiat and Keith Haring hang on the walls. A small army of attendants—publicist, assistant, hairdresser, makeup artist and mother— scurries about making sure that Keys, 24, is comfortable. The center of all this attention is slipping into a curve-hugging, low-plunging dress by Versace, having just slipped out of an embroidered Escada gown. And...surprise, she seems content. A scant five years ago, Keys would not have been caught dead in either of these—or any dress, for that matter. "Before I was introduced to a variety of styles, I was so the baggy-jeans-and-Timberland girl," she says, chuckling at the memory.
