In this study, a wind farm arrangement at a location with strong wind was determined by analyzing wind data. Our characterization of the proposed site for a wind farm in Shanxi Province of China can be summarized as follows: 1. Annual average wind speed was 9.0 m/s for No.l tower at ten-meter height. 2. The prevailing wind directions are WNW and W. 3. The turbulence intensity of 0.11 (class I) was selected for the wind turbine based on the IEC standard. 4. The site has favorable wind characteristics. The plan to build 24 wind turbines, each of 2000 kW capacity, for total site capacity of 48 MW along the mountain ridge, which lies perpendicularly to the prevailing wind directions, is supported by the analysis of our observations.
