PDM plant heralds national network

PDM, one of the UK's largest food waste recycling firms, has started construction on an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant at Widnes in Cheshire as part of its strategy to build a national network of AD plants on its existing food processing sites. Doncaster North MP and Labour leader Ed Miliband opened PDM's first AD plant at its Doncaster headquarters in September 2011 under the brand name of ReFood. Within six months the site was running at full capacity turning 45,000 tonnes of food waste into 2.8MW of electricity annually.
