Food waste has become a hot topic. Research published by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) shows that UK households throw away over 7 million tonnes of food every year. What's truly shocking about this headline figure is that more than 60% of this material could have been consumed. WRAP estimates that food waste prevention could save the average family a staggering £680 a year while at the same time deliver significant environmental benefits in terms of landfill avoidance and mitigating climate change.
