Educating a Technical Society

Each year, fewer students enter the fields of science and technology, especially engineering, than did 10 or 20 years ago. Possible reasons for this are a lack of interest on the part of the student, a lack of encouragement by educational counselors or, perhaps, other career fields seem more interesting, more lucrative and offer more job satisfaction United States industry is hiring more foreign personnel to meet high technology requirements. If this trend continues, our leadership in areas of technological superiority and manufacturing capability may be relinquished to other countries.
