The first of the November meetings was a joint meeting with the In stitute of Corrosion at their usual meeting place, The Naval Club, Hill Street, Mayfair Pre-fabrication or shop primers commonly used in the construction and shipbuilding industries for the corrosion protection of freshly blast-cleaned steel. They are normally applied on automatic lines after pre-heating and blast-cleaning to Sa21/2 and blowing clean. After automatic spraying the plates or sections are cured with warm air lifted off the line and stacked. Control of the evenness and thick ness of application are important and the principal requirements of these primers are safety, no interference with welding or cutting and no loss of adhesion on forming or bending.
