TWI secures contract for bespoke underground storage tanks monitoring system in Malaysia

TWI - The Welding Institute, Cambridge/UK, has won a contract with the University of Technology, Malaysia (UTM) worth £ 100,000 to develop a new condition monitoring system for underground storage tanks. The team at TWI will deliver the project -the first of its kind in Malaysia - in partnership with technical experts from the university which focuses on intensive research into engineering, science and technology. The new system will be designed to address and supersede the limitations of current underground storage tanks inspection techniques such as manual gauging, inventory control and leak detection methods, all of which are unable to detect tank leakage until it has already occurred.
