NEW MARINA OPENS AT NORTHAMPTON

Northampton's new mooring basin at Becket's Park is almost ready, and the Environment Agency is now accepting bookings from boaters. The 80-berth marina includes six residential spaces. Being on a river, the moorings are rise-and-fall, and protected against flooding. Boats can start mooring from Easter onwards, and the facility will be fully open by the end of July. The opening of the marina handily coincides with the IWA's 2011 National Campaign Festival on Northampton's Nene waterfront, over the May Day weekend (29th April to 2nd May). Depending on progress the new marina could provide valuable facilities for upwards of 100 boats expected to attend the event.
