Restoring the reservoir

Tampa Bay Water officials are reviewing the qualifications of a number of design-build teams competing to renovate the agency's 15.5 billion gallon (59 billion litre) capacity CW Bill Young surface water reservoir.rnThe reservoir needs extensive repairs following discovery of cracks in its cement-soil interior lining during a drawdown in 2006.rnIn early August, Tampa Bay Water received statements of qualification from five potential contractors. The statements represent the first step in a two-stage procurement process to select the preferred design-builder. Final selection is expected to be made sometime in the first half of 2011.
