Conflict and cooperation in the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna basin

The Eastern Himalayan countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal, along with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, are interconnected by the river systems of the Ganges (or Ganga), the Brahmaputra (known as Yarlung Tsangpo in China and Jamuna in Bangladesh) and the Meghna. Together these three river systems are often referred to as the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) basin, covering an area of 174.5 million hectares.
