Changing sanitation behaviour

A s part of its 'scaling up rural sanitation and domestic private sector participation' programmes, the World Bank's Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) has commissioned household research studies that are being used to help develop strategies and tools to change behaviour and create demand for sanitation. The desk review of the WSP formative research studies was undertaken because the Bank had undertaken numerous qualitative and quantitative market research studies since 2006. These encompassed many countries including Cambodia, Tanzania, Uganda, India and Indonesia, but no systematic comparison or summary had been made.
