Detroit develops new regional water authority

US city Detroit has finally settled the future shape of its water service provision, agreeing to adapt the existing Detroit Water and Sewerage System to become a new regional entity, the Great Lakes Water Authority. Two of the six board members for the new authority will come from the city, with Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties each appointing a member and the state of Michigan choosing the last appointee.
