India Telecom Policy Makeover Rolls

Since September 2016 launch, nine months after its go-live, RJio market outreach has led to spiralling of what used to be an OTT vs Telco debate. Unfair tariff plans, predatory pricing... accusations of playing havoc in India telecom industry continue to fly against RJio. The incumbent telcos in India are now calling for instituting a floor price for data services. This demand is being evaluated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) along with other possible solutions to ensure that competition remains productive, and does not destroy strong players who form bedrock in a Digital India.
