Kuoni, considered among one of the top players in the organized travel industry has made its presence felt in India also. It entered the Asian market around 12 years back after acquiring the very well known SOTC brand, which was a big name in its genre. SOTC was Kuoni's first acquisition in India, and thereafter there has been no stop. Later on, acquisitions of companies like SITA, Tour Club and Distance Frontier placed Kuoni on a higher pedestal. And right now one of the people to whom the present growth of Kuoni should be attributed is Dhiren Savla, the CIO of Kuoni Travel Group, India. Kuoni is the largest functional travel company in India with a turnover of Rs 2,500 crore. Dhiren Savla is responsible for BPO operations in all of the 43 countries and for all IT operations in Asia for Kuoni travel business. His previous holdings in the companies he served, cut him out as a man of substance. He served as an assistant vice president in Merrill Lynch and then with Sherkhan as a CTO. The last company he served was also in the role of a CTO in IL&FS Investments. He won the 'Bold CIO 100 Award' in 2008 and the 'Innovative CIO 100 Award' the year before, both by the IDG Group.
