Through the twentieth century the print and broadcast media have become a major means of communication. The Pre-Raphaelites have received a significant amount of media coverage, particularly since the centenary of the formation of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1948. Most recently they were the subject of the BBC drama series Desperate Romantics (2009). Pre-Raphaelitism exists at least as much as a phenomenon within the media as it does in art history.
