In-line system scans for 3-D inspection and measurement

FlexiScan3D is an in-line scanning-based dimensional inspection system for industrial machine vision. Using a 3-D scanner mounted onto a robot end-effector or onto a linear slide, the 3-D imaging system mea- sures dimensional quality and detects surface defects of parts and assemblies during production. The system collects point-cloud data, automatically aligns them to the part CAD files, and allows extracting geometric features such as holes, slots, studs, surfaces, and others. The extracted are compared to user-defined tolerances and saved into the system's database for reporting, providing plant-wide production data access.
