Buildings of Medieval Europe: Studies in Social and Landscape Contexts of Medieval Buildings

The volume presents eight essays, originating in a session at the 2016 conference of the European Archaeological Association. It is divided geographically into Britain & Scandinavia and Central & Eastern Europe, and the emphasis is principally, though not exclusively, on the evidence from excavation. Its aim is to highlight new methods and directions in understanding the role of buildings in the daily lives of medieval people and, within its rather constrained limits, it is useful and interesting.
