This article describes a new standard for insulation fault location systems and its practical operation. Wherever a high degree of safety and reliability is needed, IT (or unearthed) power supply systems are required. In order to guarantee the resulting high standards of safety in operation, it is vital to not just monitor the insulation resistance, but also to locate the insulation fault.
