On March 30, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announcedthat it is “renewing four restrictions on the Iranianregime’s nuclear program for an additional 60 days.” As wasreported in the Ux Weekly (UxW34-13), the four civil nuclearproject waivers renewed include two waivers covering theTehran research reactor and one each for the Bushehr nuclearpower plant and the Arak experimental heavy water reactor.Russian entities under Rosatom are involved in three out offour projects while the Arak site has seen involvement fromvarious Chinese and European companies. Waiver non-renewalcould have led to the entities that continue their engagementwith Iran to be sanctioned by the U.S. government.
