摘要

OWNERS of the Equinor-led Northern Lights carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) venture in Norway are preparing contracts worth a combined $800 million for the scheme to transport and store captured CO_2 under the North Sea. Major contracts for development of a land facility, a 12-inch diameter pipeline, ships to transport liquid CO_2, a control cable and a combined power and fibre optics cable will be awarded this year and next. Project director Sverre Overaa told Upstream that it is necessary to start preparations in order to have the infrastructure ready for the first shipment of CO_2. "Some contracts are time sensitive. Transportation and storage facilities must be ready when carbon capture is up and running," Overaa said. The contract for land site preparation will be awarded this autumn, he said.
