Kosmos posts a Q1 loss

KOSMOS Energy booked a loss in the first quarter on the back of asset impairments and falling revenues as the US independent also revealed that compatriot operator Murphy Oil has shut in the Delta House field in the US Gulf of Mexico. Texas-based Kosmos has itself shut in some smaller fields in the US Gulf amid the dire oil price environment and has identified cost cuts across the business. The net loss to the end of March was $182.77 million as compared with a loss a year earlier of $52.91 million. On an adjusted basis, the net loss was $66.35 million, down from a loss of $23 million a year before. Revenues fell to $177.78 million from $296.79 million.
