Peregrino 2 start-up stalled off Brazil

EQUINOR has confirmed that start-up of phase two of its Peregrino field development project off Brazil has been delayed until next year due to work disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The latest phase of the heavy oil field scheme being developed by the Norwegian operator in the Campos basin was previously due to be launched by the end of this year. However, chief executive Eldar Saetre said late last week that the planned start-up has now been pushed back into 2021, with the scheme being the latest of the company's projects around the world to fall victim to delays caused by the corona-virus crisis that has led to logistical issues in manning installations and cutbacks due to low oil prices.
