NATURAL gas produced on the UK continental shelf creates less than half as much greenhouse gas as imported liquefied natural gas, according to a new study by the country's offshore regulator. Gas extracted from the UK continental shelf has an average emission intensity of 22 kilogrammes of carbon dioxide equivalent per barrel of oil equivalent compared to imported LNG, which has an average intensity of 59 kg COze per boe, data published this week by the Oil & Gas Authority shows.
