Lukoil in Caspian trio push

RUSSIAN privately held oil producer Lukoil has petitioned President Vladimir Putin to order the Ministry of Natural Resources & the Environment to issue it with exploration licences for three Tyuleny shallow-water blocks in the Caspian Sea. In a recent letter to Putin, cited by Moscow business daily Kommersant, Lukoil chief executive Vagit Alekperov said the company is "running out of new exploration targets" in Russia's Caspian Sea waters.
