The high-tech industry has realized that the federal government can greatly impact its business, and it has now come to Washington with a lot of opinions. As president and CEO of the American Electronics Association (AEA), William Archey is at the helm of one of the tech community's largest organizations. The tech industry may have Washington's ear now, but Archey says that was not always the case, mostly because of the industry's ambivalence. Grant Seiffert, vice president of external affairs and global policy at the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), says that in the last few years, the knowledge base of federal policy-makers toward high-tech issues has vastly improved.
